Announcing – Wilton High School 2019 Softball Winter Workouts

Wilton Baseball Softball Association (WBSA) softball workouts are for all girls from grades 9-12 seeking to play High School softball in the spring of 2019.  As well as select 8th grade Wilton athletes looking to enhance their skills and level of play.

WHEN: January 6 through March 10, 6:00pm - 8:00pm (excluding February 3)

WHERE: WHS Field House

Like years past, the workouts will be led by Coach Nicole Sidor, three-time gold medalist at Canadian Nationals, named national play-off MVP in 2007 and earned distinction as the top pitcher at Nationals in 2008 and in 2009, named national all-star player. Sidor playing D1 softball for Sacred Heart University.  She rounded out her senior campaign batting .356 with 34 RBI and 21 runs scored. She blasted seven home runs in her senior season, totaling 21 in her career to hold onto the program record. Recording a .564 slugging percentage, 21 of her 58 hits in the season were extra bases-13 doubles in addition to the seven home runs.  The West Vancouver native posted the lowest earned run average of her career in 2013 of 1.47. She finished the season with a 10-9 record, pitching 16 complete games and recording four shutouts. Sidor held batters to a .189 batting average over 133 innings. The highlight of her season came on March 7 when she threw a no-hitter against Grambling State in the Rebel Games. Sidor fanned 10 batters over seven innings for her second win of the season, and earned the honor of Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Coach Sidor provides hitting and fielding instruction, including pitching in group and individual setting for both Wilton Little League and WBSA. In addition, Coach Sidor has coached several successful Wilton travel teams as well as Wilton’s High Fall Ball team.

In addition to coach Sidor, the WBSA is please to introduce Coach Lauren Delgadillo, who is Wilton Softball’s 14U travel coach.  Delgadillo’s record is also impressive, playing center field as a 4-year starter for D1 Sacred Heart University. She was named All-NEC Second team as a sophomore, with a batting average of .296 and slugging percentage of .402.  A constant in center field for the Pioneers, playing for over 200 career games.  Delgadillo led the team in hitting in 2016, 2017 and finished 3rd in 2018.  In her career, Delgadillo had 47 hits for extra bases. She is fast too, in 2018, she reached base safely in a team-high 15 games from March 7-28.

To round out instructions and assist coach Sidor and Delgadillo, long time Wilton coach Dom Rauccio will be participating and providing an extra hand to make sure the players are getting the necessary reps prior to the start of the high school season.

Please note: The workout structure is developed in collaboration with Wilton’s varsity softball coach, Brian Jacobs.  It’s a great program designed to prepare athletes to be successful and ready for the upcoming season. You don’t want to miss it!
